Abstract

This article discusses how differentiated learning can improve students' understanding abilities. Students with a high level of heterogeneity (background, learning style, and level of readiness) certainly have different levels of understanding. There are those who are classified as slow learners, medium learners, and fast learners. However, it is the lecturer's obligation to understand all students in the courses they teach. To be able to understand students with a high level of heterogeneity, learning strategies are needed that can accommodate this level of heterogeneity. One learning strategy that can accommodate student heterogeneity is differentiated learning. Differentiated learning is an effort or process to adapt the learning system in the classroom to accommodate the different learning needs and abilities of each student. The principle of differentiated learning, each student has unique abilities and abilities, as well as different ways of understanding knowledge or subject matter.
